The Royal Southern Yacht Club Motorboat Open Weekend
NewsPosted by John Moore Mon, June 01, 2009 13:12:47The last weekend of May saw unusually warm and sunny weather, with Mediterranean like blue skies, coupled with a light easterly breeze.
These fine conditions were to be the back drop for The Royal Southern Yacht Club Motorboat Open Weekend, in which Gee 185 would find herself in competition again, if abate at a slightly more leisurely pace than last year, when she covered nearly 2000 miles in The 2008 Round Britain and Cowes Torquay Cowes powerboat races.
Various events over the weekend included a Poker Run, Predicted Log and a Solent Safari!
Highlights of the weekend for team Gee 185 included an al fresco lunch, whilst moored at Folly Reach on The River Medina.
Where else could 19 eclectic individuals including the Hon Laura Levi, Fiona Pankhurst, Head of Corporate Marketing and PR at Raymarine, renowned marine journalist Ray Bulman and baby Blossom Clayton enjoy a sumptuous BBQ of home made burgers, ice cold white wine, rounded off with strawberries and cream, but for on the sun drenched decks of Gee 185!
The great success of the weekend was rounded of with Sunday Roast and Prize Giving at The Royal Southern, with Team Gee 185 being awarded first prize in The Sea Start Solent Safari.
